Herding

In Game Description

The herding skill is learning to keep and breed large amounts of animals. The type of animals you can keep as herds depends on how skillful you are as a herder.

Your herds will be kept in animal pens, which you can build from some planks, by typing markpen. At first you can only build these pens in grasslands, but later on you may develop skills to forge suitable areas in less hospitable surroundings.

You will then need to aquire some rights to some animals. Make sure you get rights to animals which you are able to herd.

You can put these animals into your new pen, and then if you are skilled enough, you can breed them (breed animals) once every four hours or so, or feed them (feed animals). If you feed your animals, you will be able to keep more animals in a pen than otherwise. Unfed animals fend for themselves, so the pen can only support a smaller number of them. To feed animals you will need some wheat or vegetables on the ground next to your pen.

When you have enough animals in your pen, you can release animal to let one of them out. Beware, because you cannot put it back in once you've taken it out - You need twenty animals to breed, so try to keep the numbers above that. When you have released an animal, you can do whatever you want (and are able) with it.

Learning

Herding is taught by the animal herder who resides in Ruk'tan and Karinthia.
